Hallucination- Creates
two carbon copies of unit selected... This unit maybe created from your or
other armies. They may appear to attack... but no damage is calculated. To
all others these units appear normal... and not the blue color that u see.*
Some reasons to use Hallucination:
Scouting (or send ur hallucinated
troops into known mined territory to set the mines off)
Intimidation or scare the hell outa newbies
*Note that certain units cannot 'Pretend' to attack...
such as Carrier (they Deploy units), scourage (they suicide out), Science
Vessel (they do not have a melee weapon).
Some units that would work well hallucinated
maybe, Tanks, Reavers (woo, they'd be scared!), Dragoons, marines, queens,
battlecruisers, etc.

We the Damned, sought refuge in
numbers...
Vampyres are a West Battle.net clan. Our channel is
Public Chat Vamp-, and often invade Starcraft Newbies. We offer training
for members, and newbie help or escort. We seek out loyal members... We
highly stress TEAM participation... and look highly upon members who serve
the clan.
Clan was first founded in Febuary of 2002, our leader
Ryuuko (Vamp-King) recruited
his first members to be known now as Vamp-Chobo, and Vamp-Hyper. Our site
was launched March 6th,2002. It had little more than a couple of pages
Nothing like it is now. Our name was given as Vampyres, because most of
us play at night, or like some members they hardly see the sun. Thus how
Vampyres became.
We just recently opened the Diablo side of our clan
primarily only Starcraft, we seen a lot of members wanted to play Diablo,
in the safety of other members-so now we open for business
Both sides of clan are ran independently and separately from each other,
yet they link a lot of members within. Rules, Alliances, Meeting channels,
and Rank structure are identical for both sides of clan.
As u know Vampyres has been deemed as a "Newbie" clan... we are
new... and we do accept new players. We now offer training for players wanting
to practice for ladders and tourney's not only to our members, but alliances
as well (please contact council for more details
on becoming a trainer or if you seek training)
Vamp-Enslaved has turned his council
position over to Vamp-Spectros, Vamp-Enslaved has been banned from clan for
cheating.
We have opened new ranks with include
Mediators and Informants (contact a council
member to find out more about getting into these positions)
Welcome to our new recruits.
Here
is some useful information about Diablo II, Lord of Destruction. To find out
more information, please check out our link to diabloii.net (Ultimate Tomb of
Diablo Knowledge)
Can I wear two Item Sets at the same time? Yes, a couple of the sets have no
overlapping items, and can be equipped simultaneously. However there are bugs
with it; the bonus for a full set will only be displayed for one set, and sometimes
no sets, usually the one you've equipped first. We have mixed reports as to
whether you actually get both bonuses, though this issue came up during the
Closed Beta, since there were a couple of people who managed to get two entire
sets together, and Blizzard North did a programming fix for it at the time that
appeared to work.
What are Exceptional Items? Exceptional (abbreviated "Excep")items
are higher quality versions of normal items that can ONLY be dropped by monsters
(never bought from NPCs) and only on Nightmare and Hell difficulty. There is
a 5% chance an item will be Excep on Nightmare and 10% chance on Hell. There
are no set or unique Excep items, but there are Rares and socketed Excep items,
and Rare Exceptionals make up the majority of higher level character equipment.
There are no Excep rings or amulets, and several Excep items are not dropped
in the game due to an error in the programming code. Whether this error is an
accident or was put in on purpose by Bliz to keep these items from dropping
is unknown.
One of the key changes to how items work in Diablo II
is the addition of range to melee weapons. In Diablo every melee weapon had
the same reach: exactly one space. The only variety was in damage, and swing
speed. In Diablo II, every item has a different range, down to the pixel. Polearms
and spears reach much farther than swords, and on down through mauls and clubs
and short swords until you reach wands and daggers, which have the least reach
of all melee weapons.
In addition, nearly every weapon has a different swing speed, with variety even
within a given weapon class. Smaller, lighter swords will swing faster than
larger, longer ones, lighter weapons like a club swing faster than heavier war
hammer, and so on. This sort of logical swing rate is present in nearly every
weapon class. This item swing speed has to be figured in with the swing speed
of the character, and this speed varies widely between the characters, and also
from item to item. Melee characters tend to swing faster than the weaker, mage
characters, Amazons are faster with bows or crossbows than the other characters,
etc.
How you go about striking a target is changed as well.
In Diablo it was only necessary to swing in the direction of a monster to hit
it. This was easy to do, since there were only eight directions you could be
attacked from, with the graph paper-like ground tiles of game engine. You could
highlight a monster or not, it really didn't matter with a melee weapon, as
long as you swung in the proper direction. This no longer works in Diablo II.
You will need to actually point out/highlight the monster you wish to strike,
and though you can hold the shift key to stand still and swing, there is a substantial
penalty to accuracy if you don't aim for your particular monster. This is less
of an issue with ranged attacks. Spells and arrows are more accurate if you
hover on the intended target, but they don't always miss if you just shoot in
the direction of a monster.
Another change to weapons is the new display of "Weapon
Class" and "Attack Rate". Weapon class is just an organizational
system, telling you whether an item is an axe or a polearm or a sword, for example.
This is mainly of importance to Barbarians who wish to use a weapon appropriate
to their Mastery, and to other characters with greater skill with a sword than
a mace, or item-specific skills, like the Amazon with spears/javelins. Also,
as was the case in Diablo, bladed weapons do less damage to the undead than
blunt weapons, and there are some other weapon type bonuses and penalties to
particular monsters. You can of course generally tell what weapon class an item
is at a glance, since swords and axes and staves are clearly different items,
but having the name avoids there being any confusion between a large axe and
a small polearm, or a sword and a dagger, for example.
It was planned that items would have more variety. Weapons were going to fall
into a given range for durability, determined upon generation of a particular
item. Like a sabre would have been from 28-36 durability, a short sword from
30-38, etc, and each item of that type would have been in that range (barring
lower quality or superior items). This was not implemented in the final game,
so all sabres have 32 durability, all short swords have
Armour has undergone many changes as well, though not
quite as many as weapons. The range of possible Armor Class on items is much
increased, with lower lows and higher highs, and there are more types of amour
now, with higher strength and dexterity requirements to equip the top plate
mail, as well as the added issue of increased stamina drain when running in
heavy amour. Gloves, boots, and belts have been introduced, which adds options,
but also complexity. Another change is that in addition to Armor Class being
variable as it was in Diablo, (for example, Full Plate Mail varied from 60-75AC)
durability is as well. So a sash, an 8-slot type of belt, could have from 1-5
AC, and 40-52 durability. The numbers are approximate estimates based on our
notes, but you get the idea.
New types of armor are boots, belts, and gloves. None of these will account
for a very large percentage of your total Armour Class, but they all can add
some modifiers, and other useful things, such as fast walk on boots or haste
on gloves. There will be Rare, Unique, and Set Item types of all three, but
they are limited in their magical modifiers, so that they'll add some minor
bonuses, but won't be allowed to have the really useful prefixes or suffixes
that you will find on weapons and helms and such.
Gems are a new type of item in Diablo II, usable in "socketable" weapons,
shields, and helms. Read our Gems Page for full info. Socketable items are non-magical
ones that gems can be inserted into, adding new properties from the gem to the
item. All weapons in the game, from daggers to bows to staves, have the possibility
of being socketed, and from one to three sockets have been seen on items. Generally
speaking, when you add a gem to a weapon, (not a shield, those are next) it
will add some form of damage to the weapon. Fire damage, poison damage, etc.
There are five quality levels of gems, and as you upgrade your gem (gems can
only be upgraded by gem shrines, and only before they are socketed.) the damage
they add to the weapon will go up.
Shields are socketable also, but rather than adding various
forms of elemental damage, gems in shields increase resistance to that type
of attack. So diamonds would add to your lightning resistance, for example.
It is not known what gems in a shield would do if the shield were used as a
weapon. Most likely they would add nothing to the damage, since that's not how
they work, but this is unconfirmed.
Helms are the other socketable item, and gems in helms tend to add to attributes,
or hit points or other such things. Helms seem to be, based on our admittedly
incomplete information, the least useful of the socketable items. You don't
seem to gain as much from the gems as you could from many helm modifiers.
There are other types of gems than the basic elemental gems. Skull gems are
known, which drain mana and hit points, and there are said to be other gems
that we known nothing of yet, possibly even unique or rare gems, and also perhaps
cursed gems. Again, check our Gems page full info on all known gems, and more
will be added as it is discovered.
Uniques are much like they were in Diablo. Golden text
names, pre-set stats, multiple modifiers, mixed quality. They will still be
fun to collect, but probably most of them won't be of much use at higher levels.
Which is only fair, they can't all be great items; lots are meant to be of use
to low or mid-level characters.
Rares are a new sort of item, and are not what they were initially thought to
be. Early comments from Blizzard focused on "ultra rare" items, and
figures such as 1 per 100,000 games on Battle.net. This is not at all how Rare
items will be in the final game. Rares are a sort of cross between Uniques and
Magical items. They have multiple modifiers, as many or more than Uniques can
have, but the modifiers are randomly determined. However they have names like
uniques. "Loath Carapace" is the one known Rare name, and you can
see full info on it in the Rares Section.
Item Sets are probably the most fun new sort of item in
Diablo II. They are comprised of from three to six items, all with similar names
and properties. The fun of them is trying to collect the whole set, since if
you do, large secret bonuses will be bestowed upon your character. Nothing is
known about what sort of bonuses, but Blizzard has promised that they will be
very noticeable and powerful as well.
To add to the fun, Uniques and some Set Items will have unique graphics on your
character, so they are potent items and a fun fashion show as well. Remember
that your character will be seen in the Battle.net chat channels in their current
outfit, so a very nice look will be appreciated by more than your playing partners,
and showing off a new item set or unique will be fun, and make for good conversation.
The appearance of wearable items is customized to the
character in both shape and hue, much as it was in Diablo. There is still a
"one size fits all" aspect to equipment, which is a necessary addition,
since having five different types of every armor in the game would be annoying
and item variety overkill. The silver platemail that the Paladin wears will
not look the same on the Amazon, since when she equips the same item, it will
reshape itself to her curves, and transform into the golden tones that she favors.
There are also many more in-game graphics for equipment, with far more than
three armor appearances, and the chest armor no longer controlling how every
other item looks. You can mix and match your character's appearance, with different
types of helms and weapons and shields and other armor, and come up with a very
attractive look, or go fully for function, and wear whatever you find that serves
you the best.
